The Screens Kept Rolling:

OnWatch TV’s 2025 Year in Review

Category: Platform Updates | Tags: Independent Film, Community Media, Live Streaming, Education, Social Impact

If it felt like OnWatch TV was a little quieter online this year, there’s a simple reason for that: we were busy working.

While we may not have posted every step of the journey, the cameras were rolling, the lights were on, and the work continued—across classrooms, community spaces, stages, studios, and live events. 2025 was a year where OnWatch TV leaned fully into its purpose: amplifying voices, building access, and creating opportunities through media.

“OnWatch TV was never meant to be just a streaming platform. It was built to be a bridge—between community and creativity, education and opportunity, stories and systems.”
— Dr. Tayari Kuanda, Founder & CEO, OnWatch TV

As the year comes to a close, here’s a look at what we’ve been building.

2025 at a Glance

By the Numbers:

  • Dozens of community events filmed and livestreamed
  • Students trained in film, broadcasting, and media production
  • Partnerships with schools, nonprofits, and civic organizations
  • Content distributed across Roku, Amazon Fire TV, VIDAA TV, web, and mobile
  • Local stories shared with regional, national, and global audiences

These numbers reflect a year focused on depth, access, and impact, not just scale.

More Than Streaming: Media in Service of Community

In 2025, OnWatch TV continued to document and amplify moments that matter. From concerts and community celebrations to panels, stage plays, and cultural events, our production team showed up to ensure local stories were seen, preserved, and shared.

We supported live broadcasts and filmed events designed to build community pride, visibility, and connection, particularly for voices often underrepresented in mainstream media.

Training the Next Generation of Creators

Education remained central to OnWatch TV’s mission this year. Through hands-on training and collaboration with schools and nonprofit partners, we supported students and emerging creators as they learned:

  • Camera operation
  • Live streaming workflows
  • Broadcasting fundamentals
  • Production etiquette and teamwork

Our work alongside educators and CTE programs reinforced the belief that media literacy and production skills are workforce skills—and that access to equipment and mentorship can change life trajectories.

Production, Performance & Storytelling

OnWatch TV supported and produced original and independent content across formats, including:

  • Original Films in for OnWatch TV Africa
  • Stage plays and filmed performances
  • Comedy shows and specials
  • Community interviews and conversations
  • Educational and documentary-style programming

We also continued pre-production and planning on new projects, including documentary and narrative works that reflect lived experience, resilience, and social context.

Live Where It Happens

One of OnWatch TV’s defining strengths is our ability to go live where the people are. In 2025, that meant filming and streaming from:

  • Community events
  • Cultural celebrations
  • Educational spaces
  • Nonprofit initiatives
  • Public forums and performances

Our approach remains simple: if it matters to the community, it matters to us.

Powered by Collaboration

None of this work happens in isolation. In 2025, OnWatch TV collaborated closely with:

  • Nonprofit organizations
  • School districts and colleges
  • Community leaders
  • Artists, filmmakers, and performers
  • Civic and cultural partners

These collaborations strengthened our platform and expanded what OnWatch TV can offer—not just as a distributor, but as a creative and civic partner.

What We’re Building in 2026

As we look ahead, OnWatch TV is focused on:

  • Expanding independent film acquisition and distribution
  • Scaling live streaming and broadcast services
  • Deepening education and workforce training partnerships
  • Supporting socially conscious and community-rooted content
  • Creating more opportunities for creators to be seen, trained, and paid

The foundation laid in 2025 positions us for growth rooted in purpose.
